With the arrival of low cost airlines, traveling to Goa by air has become a cheaper and affordable. More so, it has given a alternate to train as well as bus travel to Goa. It has also spurred other airlines to offer tickets to Goa at a fraction of their normal fare under various schemes.

All the low cost airlines that operate in India, Air Deccan, Go Air and Spice Jet operate flights from Goa. All these airlines offer online booking and in fact some offer Go Air and Spice Jet offer a lower fare.

 Air Deccan, the pioneer amongst low cost airline operators flies to Mumbai as well as Bangalore. In fact it flies twice to Mumbai, early morning and late afternoon. The Bangalore flight is a late afternoon. Air Deccan operates an ATR (a small aircraft) on both these routes. There is no specific seat reserved for each boarding pass (free seating arrangement) so it makes sense boarding the flight at the earliest so that you could catch the most convenient seat. Snacks and beverages are provided on board the flight, but have to be paid for. In flight shopping service is also available where one can purchase branded goods at discounted rates. The rescheduling charges are the least amongst the other low cost airlines (Rs. 200/-) and offers a refund in case of cancellations. The only hitch being the slightly longer flight duration due the smaller aircraft it operates.

 Spice Jet, operates flights to Mumbai as well as Delhi. It operates a larger aircraft, a Boeing which makes the flight duration similar to other non low cost airlines. This flight is very convenient no frills flight as it comes at a fraction of the normal fare of other regular airlines. The only hitch the cancellation charges are on the higher side (Rs. 500/-) and no refund is given for cancellations, only a credit is given which can be utilized on your next flight.  

Go Air, a recent entrant in the low cost airline space in India, flies twice to Mumbai, one late afternoon and other one in the evening. It too operates a Boeing, which makes the flight duration similar to a regular airline. The evening flight is a convenient one for a business traveler as its lets one utilize the entire day productively, unlike the afternoon flights and morning flights which are inconvenient as far as timing goes. The cancellation/ rescheduling charges here are also quiet steep (Rs. 550/-) and no refund is available.
