Goa, has been selected as the permanent venue for the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) and would be hosting the International Film Festival during November-December period.

 Earlier IFFI, had no permanent venue, every year it was held at a different places across India. Goa came into contention with the success of the Cannes Film Festival that too has its venue at popular tourist destination famous for its beaches and hospitability.

The main activity of the IFFI Goa, would take place at Panaji, the Capital of Goa along the banks of River Mandovi. During the International Film Festival, Goa makes a perfect holiday destination with screening of films from all across the world, street plays, traditional folk dances, painting exhibitions, fireworks, beach screening of popular movies, music bands, etc.. The festivities seem never to end with main artery road from Panaji to Miramar beach along the banks of River Mandovi lit up. Film personalities of Bollywood and international fame that include Hollywood descend down to Goa and make Goa their home for those few days.

A convenient location to stay would be in and around Panaji city, which would be the centre of IFFI Goa activities. The accommodation available varies from basic dormitory to luxurious five star depending on your budget. The five stars in close vicinity to the venue are Goa Marriot and Cidade de Goa. The other notable starred hotels are Hotel Mandovi, Hotel Solmar, Hotel Nova Goa, Hotel Fidalgo, etc. Amongst the dormitory and budget accommodation available is Youth Hostel of India at Campal and Goa Tourism Development Corporation at Britona.
